2024 scholarship winners have been announced.
The Scholarship Program
The alumni of this prestigious institution under the aegis of 22Knots and the initial impetus from the batch of 1990-1994, in the year 2013 announced the setting up of a scholarship program for the third and fourth year cadets.This is the first of many initiatives the Alumni group has envisaged to bring to the cadets of this institution to nurture talent and help cadets in their chosen path of being Marine Engineers.
The Sons of Late Mr. BRK Gupta (PGM,1953~1957) have instituted another Scholarship grant in memory of their parents Mr BRK Gupta and Mrs. Rajkumari Gupta for deserving 3rd/4th year cadets. This Scholarship will also be administered by MERI Alumni Trust under the aegis of DMECA.
With the successful administration of the scholarship program year after year, many more alumni and their family have come forward to set up grants to be administered by MERI Alumni Trust.
Shashank Shailendra Sarkar Memorial Scholarship instituted by the batch of 1994-98 carries a cash award of Rs.50.000/-
Tirtha Nath Doley Memorial Scholarship instituted by friends of TNDoley (90-94), carries a cash award of Rs.50,000/-
MERI Class of 2000 Scholarship Grant sponsored by Alumni of Class of 2000, carries an award of Rs.50,000/-
Class of 1995 Scholarship Grant sponsored by Alumni of Class of 1991-1995, carries an award of Rs.50,000/-
DMET Class of 1976 Scholarship Grant sponsored by the alumni of class of 1972-1976, carries an award of Rs.50,000/-
Pradeep R Avasthi Memorial Scholarship has been set up by his batchmates from Class of 1972, carrying an award of Rs.50,000/-
Mr. S S Solanki & Mrs. Rama Solanki Grant has been set up by Sanjay Solanki (4180, 1990-94), carrying an award of Rs.25,000/-
Arun-Anindya-Podu-Uttam Memorial Grant set up by DMET Class of 1993 carries an award of Rs.50,000/-
DMET Class of 1986 has set up two Grants, each carrying an award of Rs.50,000/-
MERI Class of 2001 has set up a Grant carrying an award of Rs.50,000/-
MERI Class of 2003 has set up a Grant carrying an award of Rs.50,000/-
Cadets of all years are requested to spread the word among all others, provide feedback and request for initiatives for the Alumni to further actively participate in the general well-being of the cadets and the industry.
The Prize:
This Scholarship is a one-time grant of Rs.50,000 each, for eleven cadets and Rs.25,000/- each for 3 cadets all administered by MERI Alumni Trust, directly paid into the winners' college fees account . The Prize of Rs.50,000/- in cash as a one time grant in memory of Mr. & Mrs. BRK Gupta will be disbursed directly by his family to the winner.
Application:
Application from the eligible cadets will be solicited in the form of an application package, to be completed and mailed to designated email addresses in pdf format.
Assessment:
All the applications will be assessed by a panel of Alumni, objectively, based on a scoring system. The panel will be constituted anew every year and the panellists will be announced during the Grant announcement every year. All the assessment papers of the panelist as well as the all information submitted by the applicants may be made available online to promote transparency and honesty. Assessments will be completed within 60 days from the last date of receipt of the applications.
Winner:
The winner shall be announced and the grant delivered within 75 days from the last date of receipt of application every year.
